The Middle Georgia DSA takes its endorsement very seriously, given how much of the chapter's organizing resources will be utilized in the campaign for any endorsed candidate, getting that endorsement requires both a high degree of ideological and political cohesion, as well as direct engagement with the chapter's mission.
Any candidate may request the endorsement of the chapter by submitting a completed endorsement questionnaire to midgadsa@gmail.com.
Once an endorsement request is submitted, a member in good standing of the chapter must submit a resolution to endorse the candidate. A candidate may submit their own resolution to endorse if they are a member in good standing of the chapter.
After a resolution to endorse is made, the candidate must appear at a public event in which chapter members may speak with and ask questions of the candidate in a public forum. This event will take place no more than one month after the resolution to endorse has been submitted.
Voting on the resolution to endorse shall take place no less than one month after the submission of a resolution to endorse at the next available chapter meeting. The threshold to pass a resolution to endorse shall be no less than two thirds of the vote, not including abstentions, and no less than one half of the total vote count.
If a candidate is officially endorsed by Middle Georgia DSA, that is commitment to support a candidate to the greatest extent that the chapter can, and to ensure—to the best of its ability—the victory of the candidate by the greatest margins possible without sacrificing the other functions of the chapter.
Events to support the campaign will happen on at least a bi-weekly basis, and may include, but are not limited to:
Canvassing for the campaign.
Phonebanking for the campaign.
Promotion of the campaign on social media.
Soliciting donations to the campaign from members.
Hosting fundraisers for the campaign.
